| From The25Virtues Survey:Dignity is the cornerstone of life -- it defines everything else -- how I
react, what I say, what I do, what I submit to, what I stand up to.
Dignity is everything.
In combination with respect are common needs
for all people. I expect to be treated with dignity and respect and
strive to make sure others are treated in like manner.
This is vital for humanity.
This virtue encompasses all personal virtues. You have your dignity if you are compassionate, kind, honest....
If you do not respect yourself, you cannot respect anyone else.
Being
a member of the military, I prefer to call this Honor. Honoring those
before me who made sacrifices for their country or causes they believe
in.
Adhering to what is right and noble is also a description of dignity
or honor but can also be closely tied to just about any of the other
virtues you have listed.
Quiet and positive regard, innate honor, existence of and value for individual spirit.
Treat yourself with respect, you are important and never think any less of yourself.
Have
respect and understanding on those who do not have the same as you in
the end we are all created equal and someday we will all be in that
position.
Respect others and yourself to maintain dignity across the board. Positive situations will preserve one's self and dignity.
Dignity is important because once you lose your self-respect, you might as well die.
This
is hard for many. Seeing someone walking the street people think - oh, a
bum. They are not willing to show respect and view the situation from
the others perspective. I respect life in all forms, conception to
birth, mentally ill or not, physically challenged or otherwise. Without
the ability to RESPECT another, people trod upon others without a second
thought.
Caring for others means stepping outside yourself, and growing
by trying to understand others. | | Quotations:
