 From The25Virtues Survey:

What is life without joy? Why bother with anything if not finding and experiencing joy?

Joy is essentially just being happy. it's important because being miserable is no way to live, plus it affects those around you negatively.

Happiness with life. I know I certainly have had big periods in my life where

I didn't experience much joy, and life is nearly intolerable without it.

Happiness makes life worth living.

Living life to its fullest and seeing the best in everything, it helps me get through the bad times and truly appreciate the good

Joy is important to me because I am usually happy with life 95% of the time

Joy = excuberance. I like to be joyful and childlike in my approach to life.

Joy - or what's the point? Being able to celebrate the good.

Delight in the small and large--the moment your newborn is put into your arms, the first crocus in the spring--I think that joy stems from the recognition of these moments in the here and now

Laughter, happiness, humor. I value the humor in every situation and incorporate joy and humor into every aspect of my life.

The essence of life.

Happiness in all situations regardless of outcome. Joy is important because regardless of the circumstances (positive or negative) I go through, joy elevates me beyond them.

Joy is the energy of life that comes from the most simple of acts or words.

Joy must be preserved because life can be so hard.

Live to be happy and find the something good in very thing.

Joy can turn a life into a work of art. It is not to say that one could not have life without joy, but it would not be a life I would be interested in living.

It keeps our hearts and minds open to life; it demands attention in the moment and direct experience. Even a child with nothing in Calcutta can have joy.

Intense pocket of happy. In a world of skeptics and cynics, I think it takes courage to allow yourself to take joy in all aspects of life, big or small.
