Thomas Jefferson (great ideas, lousy follow through) Access to Life, Liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness--with the understanding that we aren't all starting from the same base!
In a general sense, for me, it's the concept that all things end fairly via due thought process, whether pleasant or not. Justice has more to do with rational conclusions than arbitrary emotions and since I pride myself upon being foremost a rational human, being just is a great pillar of pride for me.
An eye for an eye is my definition. Life is unfair, it is up to civilization to even the scale when a person is wronged.
King Solomon brought order to a people by establishing justice -- the story of the 2 women both claiming parenthood of the same baby -- Solomon found a way to bring justice to an impossible situation. Justice brings order to society. I need to be able to count on it. When my own personal justice is threatened, I cannot rest -- it makes me crazy uncomfortable and upsets my equilibrium.
The backbone of a lawful society and a basis for equal rights.
A concept of moral rightness based on ethics, rationality, and law.
Communities define justice, so that people can live in those communities. Knowing what the parameters are for behavior and actions.
Whether Karmic or otherwise. What comes around goes around. What you give you end up getting back..... one way or another.
Righting wrongs. I know that life is not fair, but I do think it should be, whenever possible.
Justice keeps us honest in our pursuits.
The fight for fairness and equality and TRUTH are the big themes I seem to have been given in my hand this life.
I'm keenly attuned to what is fair. No patience for crime.
Justice is important because not everyone is judged equally.
Accountability for actions that negatively impact others, individually or collectively. Equal access to resources. I believe that injustice is at the root of violence and other threats to our peace.
In a compassionate and loving way - ensures that balance is achieved. Justice for ALL.
Social equity and restorative retribution when harm has been caused. This is important because without a framework for dealing with conflict and inequality, wars and oppression result.
You need Justice for a society to work. If there is not a clear form of justice then society will collapse.
The guarantee and fulfillment of those inalienable rights to every human regardless of identity (that is so rarely achieved). Imp: Success and opportunity in life should not be based on characteristics of one's identity
Rules should not just apply to one set of people, but to all. Justice is only served when all are treated equally.
I have a very active sense of 'Justice', probably because I was abused in 1st grade and tormented by classmates up through High School. When I actually fight for something, I'm usually vindicated, at least in public opinion.
