From The25Virtues Survey:

Respect, peace and love are all interconnected.

I consider respect to be one of the R's along with responsibility. Respect is doing what is right and not judging others. It is ok to set standards for yourself but to respect others you cannot judge others by your standards.

People need the respect to be who they are and make their own choices as long as they do not harm another.

I always give the respect I expect to get in return. The world would be a much better place if we all respected on another.

Respect is the sole reason we can maintain sanity and the systems of our lives.

Respect for others, including tolerance for my beliefs and theirs. I don't have to agree but they can be what they are.

A high regard for an individual not based on his tools or advantages or fear.

A merited or unmerited level of value given to something. I value respect because much is given to those who give it.

It is fundamental to all relationships, an important part of working together and of love.

The ability to be recognized for what you have done, but also what you continue to do.

You must also respect the people around you as well as yourself and what you believe in.

Every person deserves to be understood on some level. Every person has the right to believe.....and no one has the right to take that away, even if one disagrees.

Respect for yourself and others is important because it's at the core of how you treat people and how you allow yourself to be treated.

Respect is the understanding that there are other people in the world that are much more intelligent, creative, and talented then me. It's important to me because it is something that I have struggled with for a very long time.

A sense of worth that should be afforded to self, others, animals, the environment, etc. Respect is a reminder to pay attention to your actions and how they affect everything around you.

Given in equal measure to be received the same way.

Honoring the presence and existence of every person. I believe that all people should be treated with respect...if we treat others with respect, we too, in turn will be respected.

It is not necessary that everyone agree but it is necessary that there is mutual respect between people in order to establish a baseline from which problems can be resolved.

Supporting the dignity of those around you, and yourself. A cornerstone of communication, especially when tough subjects are on the table.

This implies seeing the value and worth in all persons regardless of their individual circumstances, and behaving in a way so as to acknowledge their dignity as persons.

To honor another deeply. Importance: Without giving respect, how can one expect any of the above virtues to be granted?

To value and honor others in a way that promotes equity. It is more that just manners. Respect implies kindness and understanding.

Valuing someone or something. It's important to acknowledge others and their talents.

Without giving it you don't get it, nor do you deserve it.

Acknowledging differences and celebrating them instead of creating barriers and distance. With such a mosaic of human existence, respect is a fundamental right that should be granted to everyone.
